Ostgut Ton are marking 10 years at the top of the techno scene with a 10-part compilation released on various physical & digital formats.
Over the past decade, Nick Höppner’s monolithic imprint has put out over 90 12″ EPs, twenty albums and a slew of mixes and compilations, providing a musical haven for both Berghain & Panorama Bar’s residents and a select roster of global talent.
Ostgut Ton | Zehn is comprised of thirty new tracks spread out over 10 individual parts. Though it marks the end of an important period of history for the label, Ostgut have made it clear that this is not meant as a retrospective. They explain their intentions: “Ostgut Ton | Zehn is not intended to be nostalgia, not a best of ten years, not a testament of Ostgut Ton’s past. It’s an adult statement of the label’s status quo as well as a glimpse of what’s forthcoming – at the end of a decade, on the brink of the future.”
Whilst their five year anniversary compilation was conceptualised clearly as to reflect field recordings taken form inside Berghain, Zehn was commissioned with as much creative freedom as possible for the artists involved, and features brand new productions from residents, signees and Ostgut Ton family, including Marcel Dettmann, Steffi, Nick Höppner, Marcel Fengler, Ryan Elliott & many more.
A very special limited vinyl boxset is in the works, presenting the 30 tracks as a 10×12″ vinyl release, housed inside a luxury hardcover box, with ten sleeves and ten original artworks by different artists, ultimately fronted with a box cover by German artist Wolfgang Tillmans. The CD version consists of limited CD hardcover box and includes 4 mini LP sleeves, 3 CDs and a 28-page-booklet.
Ostgut Ton | Zehn drops on October 30th and will be accompanied by several Zehn parties across the world, as well as, of course, a release party at Berghain on 31st October.
