Reviews: Top 10 D&B Tracks of 2015 (Brun-O)
We’re now well into 2016, but it seems no blog is complete nowadays without some sort of list of the “top 10 of 20…” so I thought I’d give it a go. After some deliberation I’ve picked out my 10 favourite DnB/Jungle tunes of 2015. Some aren’t that surprising, but there may be a few you’ve missed…
- Break- Gave too much ft. Kyo.
The best selling DnB album of 2015 (Juno download) had a few bangers in it. Lovely vocals, that typically Break-ish energetic bassline and a synth that sounds like it was taken from ‘Sandstorm’ combine to make ‘Gave too much’ my pick of the bunch.
- Bomfunk MC’s- Freestyler (teknian & ZeroZero ft. JFB Remix)
The 90’s DnB/pop banger has been brought into this century. It’s a free download as well.
- Soul:Motion & Colossus- Bittersweet
DnB at its most beautiful: luscious piano keys over delicate drum patterns.
- Dj Inspecta & Ride One ft. Sweetie Irie- Soundboy (DJ Hybrid Remix)
It’s been a busy year for DJ Hybrid and with releases like this one he’s emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in Jungle.
- Turno- Badman Nah Beg Fren
That bassline…
5. Skinley- Rhode to Nowhere
This warming liquid anthem works a treat on the dance floor.
- Calibre- Posh Boy
The music man reminding us once again that he’s equally adept at making naughty filth as he is at lovely liquid.
3. Paul SG- Caragua
In my opinion one DnB’s most underappreciated producers. The beautifully crafted ‘Caragua’ highlights this man’s incredible production skills.
2. Bredren- LRC
An intense, moody and constantly evolving roller: dark DnB at it’s finest.
1. DRS- Bun Ya Too (ft. Marcus Intalex, Chimpo, Fox, Skittles, Strategy & Rolla)
Easily my favourite tune of the year. The Mancunian madmen managed to create something that is both really rude and really catchy. All through an infectious bouncy beat plus a few “laser sharp bars to leave you blinded”.
