News | Ricardo Villalobos | Amnesia | Melisma
Berlin based DJs Ricardo Villalobos and Argenis Brito go back to their South American roots on the Amnesia EP.
The Chile-born, Berlin-raised Ricardo’s enlisted the help of Venezuelan producer, musician and trained singer Argenis Brito on the new record, which is seeing a vinyl release via the avant garde Chilean Melisma label. The title track blends organic instrumentation and Spanish vocals with pounding drums and minimal tech vibes, whilst the dub-esque Amnesia Beats goes one deeper, trading the vocals for further advanced percussion.
This is the third time the duo have worked together on a piece of music, having teamed up twice on Villalobos’ tech house label Sei Es Drum for Baile (2009) and Peculiar (2010).
The title tracks been popping up in Villalobos’ & friends own sets for some time now, making an appearance as far back as his Time Warp USA set in November of last year. If you want a chance to hear the track dropped by the man himself, Ricardo returns to fabriclondon on May 14th for what promises to be another exceptional session alongside My Own Jupiter label head Nicolas Lutz and former Trouw resident Job Jobse.
Ricardo Villalobos & Argenis Brito’s Amnesia EP is out soon on Melisma. Check below for snippets of both tracks, and stay tuned to the label’s website for release details.
