This week’s ‘Trainer of the Week’ is the Le Coq Sportif Eclat Glow In The Dark 2 in Black. The Spring 2015 Le Coq Sportif drop marks the arrival of the long standing French athletic brand to Wellgosh.
The Eclat is one of Le Coq Sportif’s most iconic retro running styles, originally hitting the market in 1985 as a performance runner. The Eclat has transcended being a recognisable running silhouette, becoming prolific as a street ready or fashion style thirty years after its original release. This season the Eclat appears in a host of vibrant palettes constructed with smooth nylon or mesh, alongside the ‘Glow in the Dark’ update.
The ‘Glow in the Dark’ rendition of the Le Coq Sportif Eclat is a sports equipped, elegant silhouette that combines archive design and contemporary inspiration. The reworked iteration of the iconic Eclat has been updated for the darker months of Winter, designed to light up at night for practicality during training or commuting and a uniquely vibrant aesthetic at night through the phosphorescent detailing that embellishes the outsole and heel tab.
The upper of the Le Coq Sportif Eclat Glow In The Dark 2 retains all the tooling that made it a stand-out runner during the 1980s; crafted from a smooth nylon base with tonal smooth suede overlays worked over the toe-cap and eye-stay, D-Rings for efficient lacing, a free form insole and heel clip for a secure lockdown of the foot. The 2015 iteration of the classic is updated with contemporary detailing, including: embroidered phosphorescent sidewall branding, a phosphorescent external plastic heel counter and a glow-in-the-dark, translucent, speckled sole unit for optimum visibility in the dark.
