This week’s ‘Trainer of the Week’ is the Reebok Workout Plus x Horween Leather in Wheat/Moon White/Black. The iconic training silhouette is decked in premium leather courtesy of Horween Leather Co. complimented with premium detailing and a dress shoe inspired palette for a luxury aesthetic.
The Reebok Workout originally surfaced as an all-purpose cross-trainer during the late 1980s and has since become a lifestyle silhouette critically acclaimed around the world. Since the 25th Anniversary of British sportswear label Reebok, the Workout Low has been updated for and appeared in collaborative capsule collections and packs with: Palace, Mita and Caterpillar.
The Reebok Workout Plus appears in a luxury new make up for Spring 2015. Reebok team up with famed Chicago based Horween Leather Co. to dress up one of Reebok’s most iconic styles in their signature Shell Cordovan leather. With over a century working with Cow-Hide leather, the limited edition Reebok Workout Plus is first rate in terms of quality, constructed from Essex vegetable tanned side leather. Essex vegetable Leather has a high oil content, giving the leather upper panels a distinct vintage aesthetic with age.
The leather uppers are dyed to a beautiful wheat colour. The upper features debossed Reebok branding on the tongue, sidewalls and heel, and a Pig leather collar lining furthering the luxury feel to the premium rendition of the Workout. Underfoot the rich uppers are set off against a creamy off-white EVA foam sole unit for cushioning and traction on the outsole. All of the original tooling that made the Workout a cultural classic are retained, including the panelled upper, H-strap lacing for a lock-down fit, a low-cut silhouette for mobility and everyday style and perforations at the toe-vamp.
